Nativ to make major announcement during 2012 HPA tech Retreat.
London, 25 January [...]

Nativ to make major announcement during 2012 HPA tech Retreat.

London, 25 January 2012 – Nativ is joining the who’s who of the world’s film and television industries in Palm Springs next month for the <a href="http://www.hpaonline.com/mc/page.do?sitePageId=130712&orgId=hopa"target=_blank>2012 Hollywood Post Alliance’s Tech Retreat. The retreat, which runs from 14-17 February will bring together the top engineering, technical, and creative talent from all aspects of digital cinema, post production, film, television and video for what it describes as “the exchange of information”.

Nativ will also be demonstrating how easy it is to ingest, store, transcode and deliver huge volumes of audio and video content to multiple platforms with a showcase of its MioEverywhere media management solution in the HPA Demo Room. Nativ’s demonstration will show how MioEverywhere provides end-to-end workflow automation within a fully-featured and totally configurable enterprise DAM system.

At a time when the film and television industries need to improve the efficiency of their operations, Nativ’s CEO Jon Folland is urging HPA’s attendees to rethink their current workflows, “This is a community that knows how to embrace innovation and improve its workflow processes in order to do what they do best and that is to create and deliver great TV and movies. By streamlining processes post-houses and production companies will be able to enhance their ability to process time-critical content accurately and cost effectively. With that in mind I am really looking forward to being a part of this year’s Tech Retreat and to introduce MioEverywhere to its audience.”

Nativ has been making some significant developments behind the scenes over the last few months and will make a big announcement during the retreat.

Global online cinema, MUBI chooses Nativ’s Mio On Demand to deliver multiplatform [...]

Global online cinema, MUBI chooses Nativ’s Mio On Demand to deliver multiplatform VOD service

London, 27 October 2011 – MUBI, the fastest growing online cinema and community, is using Nativ’s recently released Mio On Demand solution to bring the film festival experience firmly into the living room this month with the expansion of its multiscreen VOD offering to include Sony Bravia Connected TVs.

MUBI has migrated its media management and processing operations to MioEverwhere for automated delivery to all of its platforms and this latest announcement will enable film fans to watch movies from its extensive portfolio of classic, independent and foreign films through their Connected TVs.

With half a billion Connected TVs expected to enter the global marketplace in the next four years*, content owners and rights holders (both big and small) need to think about expanding their offerings to include the connected home. Mio On Demand enables them to do that quickly and cost-effectively with zero capex. The transaction-based MioEverywhere platform, which is held in a secure “private cloud”, enables users to scale operations up or down as usage costs vary according to the volume of ingested, stored, repurposed and delivered content.

MUBI founder Efe Cakarel said, “Our vision at MUBI is to give everyone their own little cinema anytime, anywhere and what better way to create that experience than to take it from the PC and onto the TV. In order to do that we needed Mio On Demand to enhance our service to include connected TVs and PS3s quickly and cost-effectively.”

MUBI, which already offers movies on a pay per view and subscription basis via its website and Sony PlayStation 3 as well as a social network (of which Martin Scorsese is a member), has tapped Nativ’s Mio On Demand platform to create workflows that automatically manage, package and deliver content to its platforms. It also enables MUBI to create and manage metadata and workflows to support file discovery, transcoding, subtitle overlay, packaging and delivery.

The system seamlessly integrates with MUBI’s contributors as well as distributors and partners, using Mio Desktop Client, an application for remotely validating and ingesting large media files to the Mio On Demand platform. Once ingested, all validated content will automatically go through MUBI’s customised workflows with source files being securely stored in the Mio On Demand platform. Source files are then available to MUBI and its partners whenever needed.

“MUBI is all about customer experience, so it’s not surprising they are one of the first niche content providers to launch a channel for the connected home. It makes sense for their movies to be available for people to watch on their home cinemas,” said Jon Folland, CEO of Nativ. “With a sharp rise in the adoption of connected TVs, MUBI has rightfully taken advantage of this growth and Mio On Demand is a perfect fit for a company like this needing a quick route to market without the restraints of capex or big bang IT projects”

MUBI, which started its PC VOD offering in 2007, is available online at MUBI.com, on Sony Bravia connected TVs, Sony PlayStation 3 and Boxee Set Top Boxes.

About MUBI

International production agency uses MioEverywhere to streamline its operational workflows

International production agency uses MioEverywhere to streamline its operational workflows

London, 13 September 2011 – Nativ, a content services company specialising in media management and workflow automation has struck a deal to streamline international design & production agency Tag’s broadcast content processing and operational task management, with a plan to roll-out the latest version of its signature MioEverywhere platform.

MioEverywhere, a total video logistics solution that is debuting its latest functionality at IBC this weekend, will enable Tag to better service its expanding client base by further optimising the efficiency of its broadcast operations and maximising internal resource utilisation.

The new solution will integrate seamlessly with Tag:cmd, Tag’s own Marketing Resource Management solution, to provide the basis for continued expansion of its international broadcast business. All validated content will automatically go through Tag’s customised workflows, which include quality control, repurposing, metadata management and transcoding, prior to playout and distribution.

Danny Whybrow, Director of International Broadcast Operations at Tag, said, “MioEverywhere is a highly configurable and scalable solution.
Jon Folland, CEO of Nativ said, “Tag has a reputation as an innovator in the industry and is one of the first production houses to streamline its broadcast processes with a customised workflow system.
Nativ’s newly launched Mio On Demand solution integrates Dolby technology to bring [...]

Nativ’s newly launched Mio On Demand solution integrates Dolby technology to bring Advanced Audio to the cloud.

London, 1 September 2011 – Nativ, a content services company specialising in media management and workflow automation has partnered with Dolby Laboratories (NYSE: DLB) to provide Dolby encoding and audio analysis for any platform or device using Nativ’s newly launched Mio On Demand service. The new solution will allow content owners to encode in Dolby® Digital Plus and Dolby® Pulse and utilize a range of advanced analysis tools to provide the highest quality audio visual experience for Multiscreen TV.

Dolby’s professional preprocessing and encoding tool, Dolby Media Generator has been integrated with a workflow and delivery tool and will enable a greater number of content owners to access Dolby’s advanced audio technologies as well as all the benefits of Nativ’s MioEverywhere platform, without the capital expenditure. Mio On Demand, which is based in a secure “private cloud” will allow users to scale up or down as required as usage costs vary according to the volume of ingested, stored, repurposed and distributed content.

Jonathan Jowitt, Senior Manager, Content Provider Services, Dolby Laboratories said, “With television and movies becoming more easily available on mobiles, PCs and tablets, content owners need to be able to provide the greatest quality experience across all of these devices. With Mio On Demand, there is now a cost effective way of making Dolby Digital Plus available to as many content owners as possible on a transactional basis. For clients seeking a solution to do all the encoding and delivery, Mio On demand can now offer an end to end solution to help meet their needs.”

Mio On Demand, which is based on Nativ’s signature MioEverywhere media management platform, is a video and audio logistics solution designed to help content owners exploit every channel and device available. The private cloud-based solution represents an entirely new way of accessing the Mio platform. Mio On Demand gives broadcasters, post houses, production companies and brands the opportunity to reap all of the benefits of Nativ’s MioEverywhere platform, along with some additional advantages:

Zero CAPEX – based in a “private cloud”, no hardware investment is required

Simple Transactional payment model – users pay for what they use, providing flexibility and tighter budgetary control

Set up in hours, not weeks – ability to exploit new opportunities almost immediately

Huge scale with clustered “private-cloud” computing – service resides within a secure, cloud-based platform (in Nativ’s datacentres) that can be expanded or contracted according to a company’s needs

Access to Dolby encoding and multi-channel audio – encode to the very best quality available

Jon Folland, Nativ CEO said, “People’s entertainment habits are changing. It’s becoming common for someone to watch a movie on their mobile on the go and then dock it when they get home to continue watching on their TV. As this becomes more commonplace audiences are demanding that content retains its quality no matter what device it’s being watched on. It has been proven that audio is a key indicator of quality and this partnership with Dolby will enable Nativ’s customers to offer the best quality across all platforms quickly and cost-effectively.”

Mio On Demand will be demonstrated in Dolby Digital Plus at IBC on Dolby stand 2.B28 and Nativ stand 4.A61e.

London, 17 August 2011 – Nativ, [...]

TV2 takes advantage of MioEverywhere’s latest functionality

London, 17 August 2011 – Nativ, a content services company specialising in business process automation, is helping to make TV2’s ingest processes completely tapeless after a deal to roll-out the latest version of its signature MioEverywhere platform to all of the Danish broadcaster’s channels.

MioEverywhere, a total video logistics solution that is set to debut its latest functionality at IBC next month, has enabled TV2 to streamline processes, lower operating costs and improve reporting by automating and digitising its broadcast ingest workflow. The new solution, which has kicked off with the ingest of all TV2’s advertising content, also integrates with the broadcaster’s transmission system as well as its legal and planning departments for seamless end-to-end file-based content management.

As well as integrating internally, the new system integrates TV2’s production partners using Mio Desktop Client, an application for remotely validating and transferring large media files to the MioEverywhere platform. Mio Desktop Client enables TV2 to remotely validate and securely ingest content from their content providers into their automated workflow using its own accelerated file transfer protocol. Once ingested, all validated content will automatically go through TV2’s customized workflow, which includes quality control, repurposing, metadata management and approval before being pushed into the broadcaster’s transmission system for playout.

Kjeld Skovlund, TV2’s Head of Development said, “When we took the decision to move to a totally file based ingest environment we were looking for a comprehensive workflow solution that would enable us to automate and streamline our processes, integrate with our existing systems and ultimately reduce operational time and cost. MioEverywhere provides us with a highly automated tapeless workflow solution that integrates seamlessly with all our departments and content providers while maintaining the high quality of video demanded by viewers today.”

“Moving towards tapeless is a monumental step for any major broadcaster and we’re really excited that TV2 has chosen the MioEverywhere platform to streamline that process”, said Nativ CEO Jon Folland. “Today’s broadcasters and content owners face the challenge of getting their digital assets organised in order to quickly reach audiences on all platforms and devices at a low cost and MioEverywhere is allowing TV2 to do just that.”

TV2 is using some of MioEverywhere’s latest functionality which includes multi-tenanting tools as well as capacity management and quota tools. These, and all other new features, will be demonstrated at Nativ’s IBC stand 4.A61e.

Nativ demonstrated it’s new Mio Ondemand media management solution at the Mobile World Forum from the Dolby stand. Nativ’s team showed how it easy it is to ingest, store, transcode and deliver huge volumes of audio and video content to mobile platforms.

Nativ’s demonstration showed Mio fully integrated into Dolby’s DMG platform to enable conversion to Dolby Pulse and DD+ formats. Dolby’s technologies enable the highest quality audio and video mobile experiences – even at very low bit rates.

MioEverywhere provides content owners, broadcasters and brands the most cost-effective and flexible means of delivering their content to any platform and any device in the highest quality imaginable.
